V-Rod reinforcing bars, while, while inherently very durable, are made with a matrix of synthetic resin rendering them liable to surface damage if severely abused. Deep scoring by sharp objects will reduce the durability and performance.
Because the mechanical properties of V.Rod are very different from those of steel rebar, an engineering evaluation must be performed before one is substituted for the other.
V. Rod is a thermo set composite and cannot be bent after it has been polymerized (cured).
Bends can be produced during the manufacturing process in virtually any shape that can be obtained with steel re-bar. Forward thinking is all that is required.
